COQ Rock 10-07-2010 and welcome Peter |
|
Monday, 12 July 2010 13:10 |
Saturday, July 10th, was a day of many 'first times'. On this day we traveled to De Haan in Belgium to play our first show in Belgium in 2010 at the COQ Rock Festival. It was great to see quite some familiar faces from earlier dates we played in Belgium and of course our loyal Dutch fans (thanks again, you rock!!!) who traveled across the border to see the show. The show was the first show with Michiel back from the U.S.A. During the one hour setlist, we played songs from 'Falling From Grace', as well as all songs from our latest EP 'Finally...'. Also there was brand new material to play! It was the first time for us to play our latest track 'Contradiction' in front of a live audience. We are currently really working hard writing new material for our upcoming second full length album. It was great fun playing the new material live.
Then there was another 'first time' with the show: It was the first time for A New Dawn performing with our new bass player Peter Groen. We first met Peter as bass player for Vanadis and we are really happy to welcome him to A New Dawn. He did a great job learning the material in a short time and we all look forward to the future with Peter. More info about Peter can be found in our bandmembers-section.
Of course with Peter new in our band, we had to say goodbye to our former bass player Michel van Beekum. We want to thank him for the last (almost) two years that he has played with us. He was a good contribution to our band and he was a good performer on stage. We wish him all the best in the future and of course with his new band.
As said before, we are very busy writing new material and there is a lot of new stuff coming along. We will keep you posted when there are new things to tell you.
Hope to see you guys soon, stay metal!

|
Monday, 21 June 2010 12:57 |
|
On Friday, June 18th, Jamila and Elbert were guests at the T.N.T. radio show. Two years ago, T.N.T. paid a lot of attention to the CD release party for "Falling From Grace" at Baroeg. With the release of "Finally...", it was time again to pay a visit. During the show, all three songs from "Finally..." were played and Jamila and Elbert were interviewed thoroughly. Needless to say, we had a great time. A big "Thank you" to Jan, Aart, Jacques and Rob for having us around. If you missed the show, you can check the hyves-page of T.N.T. or click on one of the following links to listen to the interview with Jamila and Elbert. Listen to Part 1 Listen to Part 2 Listen to Part 3 At the end of the show, listeners could win prices by answering the following question: Who wrote the text of Masque Of The Red Death? First of all we want to thank Willem Cremer for his contribution these last couple of months as the replacement on guitar for Michiel. It sounded like the old days and we had so much fun with our dear friend. We wish him all the best in his life and his musical carreer. Willem ... thanks!
We wanted to let you know that Michiel has joined us again after his five months of study in the US. We are very glad that he has returned safely. But there have been some changes. Michiel has decided that he wants to focus on only playing the guitar instead of both guitar and grunts. Therefore, we asked his replacement these last five months, Mike van den Heuvel, if he wanted to stay with us.
So, it is with great pleasure that we want to introduce you all to Mike. As all of you have probably already heard and know, Mike's grunts sound as if he was released from the depths of hell, and because Michiel can grunt also, we don't only have two clean vocalists now, we also have two grunters! This will bring more depth in the grunt section.
Just keep following us and you will hear and see the new ways A New Dawn will travel. We've got a lot going on right now. We will keep you posted.
You can read everything about Mike in his questionnaire in our bandmembers-section. |

We "Finally..." found our new vocalist |
|
Monday, 03 May 2010 20:57 |
|
Finally... we found her!
After a long search for a new vocalist next to Jamila, we found a compatible singer. Her name is: Alysia van Horik. It was a difficult period for us, but when we asked Alysia to come and sing as a guest musician on our new EP, we could really hear what she was made of. She rehearsed every song there is to know and she hit the stage with us to complete her last audition.
We are very happy that she has so much spunk and energy to help writing new songs and helping us brainstorm about what our next steps will be. If you want to know all about her, you can read her questionnaire in our bandmembers-section.
For now we're still busy writing new material and of course we are waiting for our little boy Michiel, who's coming back to Holland on the 23th of May, after being away for 5 months to the USA. We missed him all so much.
Keep checking our website for more news, gigs and other stuff ... because a lot of things are about to happen. We will keep you posted!

Finally... The Release Party (Musicon, 24-04-2010) |
|
Tuesday, 27 April 2010 08:27 |
|
Last Saturday, April 24th, was the release date of our new e.p. "Finally...". The past few weeks we worked really hard with Hans van den Brink and Paul Evers to mix the three songs that are featured on the e.p. and last Friday, we proudly presented the e.p. at Musicon in The Hague. Finally, so to say!
At 21:00, our friends of Bleed For Mercy kicked off with a raging set that made Musicon shake on its foundations. Bleed For Mercy presented their new e.p. two weeks ago at De Gonz in Gouda. Then, after a quick change over and linecheck, A New Dawn started their show. It was good to see so many people that came to see the band and hear the new songs. All three new songs were played, next to some tunes from the "Falling From Grace" album. After the A New Dawn show, Annatar closed the evening with their set. Annatar also recently released their new e.p. All in all, it was an evening with a lot of new material for the audience to hear. After the show, we received many, many compliments on the show and the new material, for which we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We will be working hard on writing more new material, so that we hopefully can record a new full lenght album somewhere by the end of this year. For now, "Finally..." can be ordered at our shows or online. Click here to visit our webshop. Already, some pictures of the show have been put online. More will follow shortly! A review of the show is published at Blastbeat.nl. Click here to read the full review! |

Breaking The Silence: TexMex, Spijkenisse, 12-03-2010 |
|
Saturday, 13 March 2010 11:03 |
 |
December 19th, was the last show A New Dawn played in 2009. After the show, a period of relative silence began. Or so it seemed. The band began the new year preparing for the new recordings and rehearsing with Willem and Mike. After almost three months, the band was hungry to climb back on stage. A short 20-miute show at Tex Mex in Spijkenisse, would be the first show of 2010. After the first chord of "Living Lie", three months worth of piled up energy blew through the venue. The audience, that had come in great numbers to see tonight's bands, gave a great response and the band raged through their set. As a teaser, one song from the upcoming e.p. was played: Masque Of The Red Death was welcomed with great enthousiasm. It was great to play live again! We are very much looking forward to our upcoming shows in April. Next up is De Gonz in Gouda with our friends of Bleed For Mercy on April 10th. Then, on April 24th, A New Dawn will present their new e.p. at Musicon in Den Haag with Annatar and Bleed For Mercy. For now, we all want to thank everybody who was present for giving us a great night! Pictures of the show have been added to the gallery. The silence is broken! |

Recording new material (Updated 23-04-2010) |
|
Thursday, 18 February 2010 14:09 |
|
In May 2008, A New Dawn released it’s debut album “Falling From Grace”. A period of great turbulence followed. We played numerous shows to promote the album and received great response from the listeners. On the other hand, the band encountered some changes in its line-up. Now, we figured it to be time to release new material to show what the band stands for at this moment in its career.
Through this news-item, we will keep you updated on what's happening with the recordings. We will add pictures soon, so you will get a hint on what we are doing and have been. Stay tuned!
On February 7th, our sound-guru Hans van de Brink recorded Rik's drum tracks for the three songs that will be featured on the upcoming e.p. With the recording of the drum tracks, it immediately became evident that Rik’s style in drumming pushes A New Dawn’s sound in a somewhat more progressive direction. Not to worry: the music still sounds like A New Dawn…… with a twist.
February 26th, we started recording the first guitar tracks. Soon, all guitar tracks will be finished and we will be able to present you a giant wall of sound. About half of the guitar tracks have been recorded so far, so the foundations for this wall of sound have been built.
On the last day of the month, February 28th, Jamila recorded the first vocal tracks. Pieces are now falling into place and the songs are really starting to take shape. This week more vocal tracks will be recorded, so it's going to be quite busy for everybody.
It's March 11th, and about time for a new update! So, here it comes.... Yesterday, we made some huge progress. All clean vocal parts have now been recorded. They are great, they are heavy, they are fragile, they are....... double. It's time to bring you the news that you will not only hear Jamila's great voice on the e.p., but also the beautiful voice of Alysia van Horik. We met Alysia last year and, impressed with her voice, Jamila asked her to be the second lead female voice on the e.p. Last week, Alysia started recording her parts and finished them yesterday. Her vocals and Jamilas seem to match great. Jamila finished her parts yesterday as well. Ýou are all familiar with her powerful voice and with these recordings, she has definitely delivered again! Apart from the vocal power, we finished some instrumental power as well. All guitar parts are done now. We guess it's time for another surprise, as Willem Cremer stepped in to add his brutal guitar sound to the recordings. Now, all that's left to record are the lower frequencies. Coming week, Michel will record his bass tracks and grunter Mike van den Heuvel will add his monsterous voice to the songs. Then, we can start mixing.
March 14th, Michel recorded the bass parts for the e.p. Recordings went pretty smooth and all bass parts were finished on schedule. Now, there's only a bit of editing to do and then all musical instruments are finished. Tomorrow, the last vocal parts will be recorded when Mike will add his grunts! We can only hope, his voice will not destroy the building......
It's now March 17th, and we're happy to say, that the BIN productions building still stands erect, although you could hear it shake on its foundations, when Mike recorded his gutterly grunts. Another chapter in the recording process is now closed. Coming Monday, we can make a start with organizing the project in ProTools. Jamilla already spent hours and hours selecting which vocal parts to use in the mix... they all sound pretty awesome! We're now starting to look forward to the mix. It's gonna be exciting! Stay tuned...
On April 8th, the mix was finished for the first song: Masque Of The Red Death. The song was finished right before the deadline that the song could be issued for the upcoming Femme Metal Compilation CD. All benefits for this CD will go to Cancer Research UK. As we strongly support causes that help fighting cancer, we were glad to have finished the song in time! There's two more songs to go, before we have our complete finished product. Also, on April 8th, the artwork came from the factury and looks really great! You will find the front cover on the flyer, that announces the release party on April 24th. Check it out & stay tuned!
The date is April 21st, 2010. It's been a hectic last few days. Last weekend we planned on finishing the mix of the two remaining tracks "Desire" and "Final Verdict". All went well, until ProTools crashed when we were nearly finished. We probably used too much of the computer's CPU power. Fortunately, our mixing tech, Paul Evers, could recover a big portion of the files that we feared were lost. Tonight we hope to cross the t's and dot the i's and be able to finish the mix of all tracks. Tomorrow will be mastering day. When all goes well, we will have our finished product on Friday morning. The next day we will share it with you all, at the presentation of "Finally..." at Musicon in Den Haag.
Alea iacta est! Early (really early!) morning, April 23th, the masters were finished for the three songs that are featured on "Finally...". A huge thanks to Paul Evers at Time Is Running Productions and Hans van den Brink at BIN Sound and Vision for completing the job! The total running time of the e.p. is 18:15 minutes and it features three previously unreleased songs: "Desire", "Masque Of The Red Death" and Final Verdict". Tomorrow, the E.P. will be released at Musicon in Den Haag with a special "Release Party Edition". See you tomorrow! |

Hello everyone,
We want to welcome you to our new website. Here and there we still have some problems, but this will be fixed soon. We hope you like it.
Last friday we played at 'Total Music' in Schiedam where we celebrated our 100th gig. It was great to see so many familiar faces. This was the evening when we told everyone that Michiel is going to leave us for 6 months to study in America. We wish him all the best and we hope that they will treat our 'handsome boy' well. We had a couple of special guests playing with us that evening and we want to thank them for everything: Nienke (vocals), Joop (keyboard), Natascha (1st singer of AND), Norbert (guitar) and Mike (growls/grunts and them some). Norbert and Mike are the ones who will temporarily replace Michiel when he's gone to the US. More about them will be put online soon. As was told on stage we also want to thank the people who are always there for us: Mirjam (merchandise), Hans (sound), Dennis (light), Kennard (sound), Maurits (sound), Marcel (guitar roadie), Nicole (make-up artist) and of course Egbert for making our new site.
And of course we want to thank all of you who are supporting us and keep cheering us on. We love you all for that and we hope that we will keep seeing eachother for the next 100 gigs to come and many, many more. We had a very good evening and we hope you did too.
Last saturday we played at 'The Underground' in Lelystad. We played with 'Slipstream' and 'Chiraw'. It was a great evening and our last gig of 2009.
For now there aren't a lot of gigs planned because we are busy making a new EP, get the boys in shape to replace Michiel, writing new material for our 2nd album wich is planned to be released in the fall of 2010. A lot of more stuff is happening, but we will keep you posted on that.
So please keep checking our site, leave a comment in our new guestbook and we will see eachother again soon. |

December 18th 2009: The100th show (update) |
|
Thursday, 17 December 2009 23:14 |
It’s amazing how time flies, when you’re having fun! On December 18th, we will be celebrating our 100th show! We will celebrate the event on the same place where the very first A New Dawn show (way back in the day, when A New Dawn was still a project) took place: Total Music in Schiedam. Other bands performing this evening are Magion and Encorion.
We will try to make it a special show. All visitors will receive a free 12 page booklet with a lot of pictures from the A New Dawn career. Also, there will be guest performances and we will play music, that has not been played for a LONG time.
Because we want to celebrate this event WITH you, we want to ask you to tell us what you would like to see happening this evening. We are now planning the show, but there is still room for YOUR INPUT. So, if there is a song that you think must definitely be played, or if there is a previous band member, that you think MUST perform… let us know. We will try to meet with as many requests as possible, so that we can make this night a night to remember! Write down your ideas and suggestions and mail them to

Updates: ( 23-11-2009) It's about one month before showtime and we are working hard on the preparations. We have checked the ideas from you and hope to be able to make many of your wishes come true. The booklet is almost finished now and will be printed shortly. Music-wise, we are working on some very cool stuff. Because it is our 100th show, we will be playing music from the entire A New Dawn carreer: past, present and future. This will mean, that besides some familiar tracks, you will hear some music, that has been kept in the closet for a long time and also some new material. Details on the music and the special guests will be kept a surprise for now, so if you're curious, come see the band play in Schiedam on December 18th!
| (14-12-2009) One more week to go before the aniversary show! We picked the songs and it looks like it's going to be a lot of fun! Besides the music, we have some nice surprises for you. |
 |
First of all, there will be the free booklet with tons of pictures from the band's history. Furter, we are happy to announce that we will have new t-shirts!!! We received the shirts last Friday and they look awesome! The "Falling From Grace" t-shirts have now sold out, so it was time to think about new shirts. The shirts will show a brand new A NEW DAWN logo. The shirts will be on sale for the first time during the aniversary show.
So, the countdown has begun! We hope to see you all in Schiedam next Friday, December 18th!

Groene Engel and Escape (13 and 14-11-2009) |
|
Thursday, 17 December 2009 22:53 |
Another 'two shows in a row' weekend has come to an end. On Friday (the 13th!!!) we went to Oss to play with our friends of Autumn and our friends from Finland: Lost Madison. It was the third time we played at Groene Engel and (as with both previous shows) it was great to play at this beautiful venue. We were happy that Michel was able to play with us again. The shows were definitely not painless for him, so here's a big Yahoo! to Michel for an awesome job.
The following day, we would be playing at Escape in Veenendaal. This show was originally scheduled for OJC Comeet in Someren, but due to some unforseen problems, the show had to be rescheduled. Fortunately, we were welcome at Escape in Veenendaal (thank you, Escape and Joop de Rooy). Although the show was rescheduled at such short notice, it was good to see that a big number of people found their way to Veenendaal. We played with Galanor and again with Lost Madison. The show at OJC Comeet will be rescheduled to 2010, so keep a close eye on the agenda!
Both shows went well and we already look forwar to the December shows. Apart from playing live, December will be all about recording new material. We hope to start 2010 with a new release and subsequently a new string of live shows. |
