michiel

Name:
Michiel Glas

Birthday:
15 october

Hobbies:
Making music obviously. Other than that I enjoy my education.

Vices:
Stupidity and general ignorence.

Musical background:
I’ve played the guitar since I was 16. Since that time I played in various little bands and projects that never made it to the stage. Eventually I ended up in the gothic metal formation ‘Asthenia’ with which I did various gigs and recorded an EP with. In 2008 we decided to dissolve the band. Shortly after that I got involved with A New Dawn.
Aside from metal I enjoy ‘world’ music. I play the didgeridoo and the Quena (which is a south american flute) and Ocarina.

Bo-el Guitars: MC7 Dutch Purple

Idols in life:
My parents and my music teacher.

Life philosophy:
The only failure is failing to do your utmost at whatever you might endevour to do.

Place you would like to go:
Finland and Japan. Both have facinating languages and cultures.

What makes you laugh:
General silliness of animals.

3: Star Wars Soundtrack: John Williams,
4: Matter and Form: VNV nation,
5: Paradise Lost: Symphony X

Preparation for a show:
You will generally see me running all over the place before a show. Once I finaly calm down I usually run a few scales up and down the guitar to get my fingers going. I also do some excesizes to increase bloodflow to my hand.

Strangest experience with A New Dawn:
Being knee deep in mud in Slovenia to push our cars out of the field because we only have 30 minutes before showtime and we can’t get the damn thing out!

Worst nightmare on stage:
Knocking one of my fellow band members out because I’ll be too absorbed in the music to notice that they’re there... or falling off the stage for said reason.

Favorite A New Dawn song:
Veil of Charity!

Worst nightmare in general:
Not being able to contribute something to anything.

Favorite band/musician:
Steve Vai, full stop.

Favorite book:
I enjoyed Asimov’s books a great deal.

Favorite drink:
Green tea.

Favorite food:
Kebab.

Favorite animal:
Cats

Favorite movie:
American Beauty.

Favorite TV show:
I hardly find the time to watch tv, when I do, I watch a movie.

A quote you really love:
During a debate a person tells Churchill: “Sir, if you we’re my husband I would poison your tea”, to which Wiston replies: “Ma’am, if you were my wife, I would drink it”.
